Lead Front-end Developer

Job description

Are you the Lead Developer that is going to help redefine the Front-end of a fast growing SaaS company? Does building the platform that simplifies the complexity of big organizations sound like an interesting challenge to you? Then it might be a good idea to continue reading.

Sounds interesting, tell me more

ValueBlue is the innovative and highly driven organization behind the BlueDolphin platform. Our mission is to enable organizations to achieve goals faster, together and based on insights. We achieve this by providing a platform companies use to achieve strategic goals through in areas of business, IT, and data. Companies such as Boskalis, the ANWB, Municipality of Amsterdam, Erasmus University and the Rijksmuseum.

Because of the growing demand for our product, we are expanding to the United States. Opening our office in New York soon. But, in order for us to keep delivering the best possible product to our customers, a slick Front-end is crucial.

What about the tech team?
You’ll work with a nice mix of testers, back-end and front-end developers spread between the Netherlands and Romania in an agile environment. At this moment our front-end team consists of 4 developers and is split between both locations. Our plan for the near future is to scale-up our in-house engineering department and one of the first critical hires is the Lead Front-End Developer. Once we have filled that role we are planning on growing both Backend and Front-end teams and on improving and changing our codebase.

It is important for us that every colleague does what they love to do every day. We believe this is the way everyone can have a valuable impact on the company. We strive for a combination of constant learning and fun. A work environment where people can work independently, communicate openly and approach their work with possibilities.

And where would I fit in?

Our front-end is currently built with Ember.js and we are evaluating our whole codebase at the moment, to decide if we need to switch to a different, future-proof framework with a functionality-based, modular structure. Your main focus will be on evaluating and continuously improving our front-end by researching new technologies, creating POC’s and supporting the rest of the team where needed. We already know where we would like to be a few years from now but have not decided on how yet, this is where you come in. We would like to hear your vision on test-driven front-end development and your implementation plan. Nothing is set in stone here and we truly are a company that embraces change.

How about your tech stack?
